Transfer Method #2 Test Procedure

1. Fill the tank with water.
2. Install the unit to be tested in the first tank.
3. Attach the deflector chute and secure the chute so it discharges into the second tank.
4. Start the test unit and pump.
5 . Adjust the valve so there is a minimum change in the remote staff gauge, over a five (5) minute period or longer.
6 . After the test unit has stabilized amps and KW, start recording the readings.

  • Readings to be recorded every minute for the next five (5) minutes

a. Volts
b. Amps
c. KW
d. GPM
e. Staff Gauge Level

  • Readings to be recorded at five (5) minute increments for the next 25 minutes (Total test time 30 minutes or more

7. Average the KW and flow data.
8. Observe any change in the staff gauge reads (+/-).
9. Determine the flow rate for any change in the staff gauge reading as follows:

  • Staff gauge change in inches times the gallons per inch divided by the test run time in minutes.

    +/- GPM = Inches x Gallons / Inch
                                  Minutes

10. Determine the net flow rate by taking the average recorded GPM +/- the change in staff gauge GPM.

GPMnet = GPM recorded +/- GPM staff gauge

11. Determine the GPMnet divided by KW by taking GPMnet divided KW avg recorded

      GPM/KW = GPMnet
                           KW avg recorded

12. Determine the GPMnet divided by HPwire. First convert KW average recorded to HPwire by multiplying KW avg recorded multiplying        1.341.

HP wire = KW x 1.341
Next divided GPMnet by HPwire.

      GPM/HPwire = GPMnet
                                HPwire
