-
Publication of voltage and amps will be at maximum
running amps with 100 feet of cable at +/- 5% of the rated line
voltage.
-
Width of spray patterns will be measured
at the outer edge of the heavy water impact area in zero wind conditions,
nominally.
-
Height of sprays to be measured with
a mast or transit at the lowest steady column of water.
-
Pumping Rates are to be measured through
a unit’s nozzle, not through an open pump. Actual flow of
each nozzle to be measured. Evacuation, change in weight of water,
and similar methods will be used to measure pumping rates.
-
Sphere of influence, circulation, and
non-measurable terms will not be used in specifications.
-
For oxygen transfer rates, manufacturers
will measure whichever unit they feel gives them the best results
and then may extrapolate data from that testing to their other models/nozzles,
only if it is clearly stated that the data is extrapolated and not
measured and that other models may or may not perform as the unit
tested. Both a high or low horsepower unit must be measured to extrapolate
the data.
-
Expression of oxygen transfer rates must
incorporate the operating horsepower of the unit. This term is more
commonly referred to as S.O.T.R. or Standard Oxygen Transfer Rate
and uses a motors amperage draws in it methodology.
-
Horsepower will be expressed as Rated
Horsepower and Operating Horsepower. The formula we will use to
figure Operating HP is HP=Volts x Amp x Power Factor divided by
746 (watts).
-
ASCE testing methods will be used to
adopt to complete oxygen transfer testing.
-
Safety testing
is meant to include the entire product as a package i.e. motor,
pump, power panel and power cable. Component approvals are not
recognized. NRTL testing bodys are acceptable.
-
Unified testing bodies for the ASCE S.O.T.R.
testing will be approved by the division. At the current time St.
Anthony’s Falls labs is approved for volumetric testing and
S.O.T.R. testing and GSEE is approved for S.O.T.R. testing.
-
Any test results published which are
derived from other testing methods or other agencies should be identified
as such in the member’s literature.
